The American Heart Association has changed its guidelines for antibiotic premedication; if you are unsure, please consult your cardiologist. The American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons has also changed its guidelines for patients with total joint replacement; they now recommend that all patients with a total joint replacement take antibiotics prior to dental treatment regardless of how much time has passed since it was placed. |
